Green Mountain Boys.

The Green Mountain boys started in the year 1770.

The Governor threatened to drive Vemonters off their farms and into the Green Mountains and that is how the Green Mountain boys got their name.

When ever sheriffs or surveyors came to Vermont they would be " beach sealed:". Which means they would get lashed by a branch. An assembly of an enraged New Yorkers placed a bounty on certain Vemonters including Ethan Allen. The boys put out a proclamation that they wrote in Poultney declaring a bounty on the cowardly schemers of New York. The Green Mountain boys with help from Massachusetts and Connecticut fought against British forts such as Ticonderoga and crown point on the New York side of Lake Champlain.

In the battle of Bennington , Vermonters helped win the war. Before the war even started Ticonderoga crown point and Quebec were already captured by the Green Mountain boys.

When Ethan Allen found out about the skirmishes in the town of Lexington he was excited. His brother and his friends and Ethan now bought some land on the shores of Lake Champlain. What was really great was that Ethan new the land very well.
