Developmental Nature and Learning Needs of Early Adolescent Students

Nancy Bohne, Instructor

(Recommended to be taken first)

Topics include physical, social, emotional, moral and cognitive growth of early adolescents as well as the development of self and assets of resiliency. Other areas include learning styles and brain research.

 

Organizing for Learning

Betsy A. Memoe,  Instructor

(Recommended to be taken second)

Topics include interdisciplinary teaming structures, teacher advisory, service learning, grouping practices, exploratory programs and programs that build community within the team and school.

 

Curriculum and Embedded Literacy

Linda Bourne, Instructor

(Recommended to be taken third)

Topics include various approaches curriculum planning and instruction, literacy across all content areas, differentiated learning strategies, brain-based theories as a basis for curriculum, student voice in curriculum and authentic assessment strategies.
